SSWS will be organizing a 2-part Hokkien Dialect Workshop on 1/2/2012 and 8/2/2012. The purpose of this workshop is to equip social work majors with basic Hokkien dialect vocabulary so as to facilitate their Hokkien dialect conversational skills.
This is especially necessary because language is crucial to communication and with basic Hokkien dialect conversational skills, social work majors can better communicate with the older generation , which will definitely help them in their social work practice in future.
Basic Hokkien dialect vocabulary in areas such as greetings, family members, directions, food and so on will be covered. The workshop will be conducted by Mr Lim Ben Liang, who is proficient in Hokkien and has more than sufficient knowledge to teach the basics of Hokkien dialect. Details of our workshop are below.
